Upgrading from an Earlier Version of MYOB

Simple Accounting can provide a tailor-made course when you upgrade from an earlier version of MYOB.

If you are upgrading from version 13 or earlier you will get the following benefits as well as those of version 16.

New Features of MYOB Version 15

Version 15 includes new features which help if you:

  • Employ staff who record timesheet information
  • Require ODBC functionality
  • Manage stock
  • Receive stock before receiving the supplier invoice
  • Need to enter budgets for the next financial year
  • Want access to seven years of transaction history without restoring backups
  • Have similar recurring transactions for more than one customer or supplier and would like to copy them to multiple cards
  • Would like to combine cards or nominal ledger accounts
  • Need to choose a date when posting transactions from the To Do list
  • Issue statements after the end of a month
  • Hold stock in multiple locations

New features of Earlier versions

Better Navigation

  • New features give you improved management of recurring transactions, let you introduce better credit management over customers, print or email forms and statements in batches rather than individually, and warn you when you might be making an error.
  • The Help button now displays Tell Me How and Tips & Troubleshooting topics.
  • A right mouse click now displays menu selections specific to your location.

Importing/Exporting

  • You can now identify cards by Card ID when importing and exporting.
  • A new preference allows you to indicate that a job is required on each transaction line.
  • You can reject or add duplicate records when you import sales or purchases.

Take the pain out of payroll

  • MYOB Accounting gives you complete control over your payroll, with a simple step-by-step assistant. It even lets you file your payroll returns electronically, a method that could earn you hundreds of pounds in Inland Revenue incentives.

Accounts

  • Account information, including banking information, appears in five tabs of the Edit Accounts window.
  • The Select from List dialogue uses SmartAccount to cut down on scrolling.
  • You can filter journal entries using ID numbers.
  • Allocation memos are used more extensively - for example in find transactions.
  • Memo fields on each line help track details about cash and stock transactions.

Banking

  • A new Bank Register feature makes cashbook entries straightforward.
  • You can record credit card fees in the new Bank and Deposit Adjustments window.
  • There is a new statement of Cash Flow report.
  • A new Get Statement Log will alert you when imported bank transactions are skipped because of errors.
  • Receive payments and pay bills directly from the Spend Money and Receive Money and Get Statement windows.

Jobs

  • The Job Number field has been expanded.
  • Jobs can be imported and exported.
  • A job can now have sub-jobs.
  • A new preference allows you to indicate that a job is required on each transaction line.
  • There is a new report for Jobs Exceptions for cash transactions and invoice transactions.
  • There is a new report for Activity Slip by jobs.

Sales

  • You can now print payment receipts.
  • The status of a new sale now defaults to the status of the last sale.
  • There is a Receive All button when receiving payments.

Reports

  • Tools for customising reports have been reorganised and simplified.
  • You can now add your favourite reports to the Reports menu.
  • A new Activity Slip by jobs report has been added.
  • A new Customer Ledger report has been added.
  • A new Supplier Ledger report has been added.
  • There are new Jobs Exceptions for cash transactions and invoice transactions reports.
  • A new Statement of Cash Flow reports has been added.
  • Date ranges work differently in the Report Display and Customisation windows.

Cards

  • New card designations now default to the designation of the last card.
  • A Payment Memo field was added.
  • A Receipt Memo field was added.
  • Emailing from your Card File is more flexible than before.

Pop ups

  • The new pop-up calculator can speed entry of numeric data.
  • A new pop-up calendar simplifies entering dates.

Other Improvements

  • Categories are a powerful new tool for recording and tracking income and expenses.
  • Rich new features make designing custom forms easier and more efficient.
  • The status of a new purchase now defaults to the status of the last purchase.
  • A new Select From window permits non-consecutive selections.
  • Expanded stock management features improve tracking for item-based businesses.

Note

  • If you are upgrading from another MYOB product, you must update your user IDs.
  • Every User ID is linked to a password and is used to assign access and track transactions.
  • You must activate your company file within 30 days.
