Solar Accounts provides a complete single user solution, on the PC and on the Mac. It combines nominal ledger, multiple chequebooks, sales, purchasing, VAT and simple card file functions. It is a fully integrated, ledger - based double-entry accounting program. There is a plan to offer a Mac version in 2011.Solar Accounts is remarkably similar in its operation to MYOB.

Solar is suitable for
small businesses of all types. It is quick to
set up and simple to learn. The menus are straightforward to use for those experienced in MYOB. It is easy to
implement at a basic level for start-up users. It has with import facilities from older programs like MYOB.
Forthcoming versions will offer further improvements. This will include improved networking; more customisation; payroll and the ability to access all the customer/supplier information you need within one single screen view. The licence fee is very economical. Once you have paid the licence you are entitled to the software for life.
The main limitation to the software is the single user status. There is no budgeting facility and no stock control as such. For smaller businesses these limitations are not serious.
